SPEAKER_01

Man, Robert, I am doing great. I'm so pumped up being down here in Fort Lauderdale with all this 10X energy going on right now. I'm just so excited to be able to bring that back to central Illinois. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, for anybody that's uh a normal Elevate listener, maybe they haven't heard designing and building mid-Illinois yet.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, remind them a little bit about what you guys do. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Hey, yeah. So we are uh it's designing and building mid-Illinois one home at a time. And it's where we help uh people learn more about little DIY projects around their house andor large projects if they want to know how to uh remodel that kitchen, remodel the bath, update the outside, whatever, whatever you need to do on your home. And with my co-host Caitlin, we we kind of get into some off-the-wall type stuff too. I mean, we're we're talking about you know, paint colors, wall colors, we're talking about raising kids, you name it, we're designing and building it, not just the home.

SPEAKER_02

No doubt about it. You've had a a celebrity on your show already a couple of times.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yeah. We've had Tamara Day host of Bargain Mansions, which you can find on Magnolia Networks, which is Chip and Joanna Gaines TV Network, which is, I believe, on uh HBO Max, is where you get Magnolia Network now. So, yeah, Tamara's been on a couple times. Great. She's actually a follower and a listener of our show, and uh we love following her too, and we're gonna have her back on again, too.

SPEAKER_02

There you go. We'll remind everybody when your episodes drop on Designing Building Mid Illinois one home at a time.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, sir. So you can catch our podcast dropping every Monday, and then we also have on Tuesdays dropping our realtor segment, and very, very soon we'll have our health and wellness segment dropping and our community segment so we can bring provide as much information as we can to the communities of Mid Illinois and beyond.

SPEAKER_02

Love it, love it, spreading that 10x mindset as well. So we got Elevate in Springfield spreading that mindset. We got designing and building mid-Illinois, spreading it across mid-Illinois. So love it, brother. Love it. Yes, sir. So yes, sir. For our audience that's watching this, you can they can obviously tell that neither of us are in our studio. I'm here in Orlando, you're in Fort Lauderdale, you're standing in front of the giant 10X sign. Love to see it. So you're at the 10X Business Summit in Fort Lauderdale. Tell us a little bit about what that three-day summit is all about.

SPEAKER_01

I sure will. So the three-day business summit, it's what you need to do to elevate your business. You know, whether you're a startup or a seasoned entrepreneur or seasoned solopreneur, this is talking about setting targets, sales, marketing, scaling your business, lead management, sales management, all of that, and how the 10x programs, systems that Grant Cardone has spent 20 plus years putting together can be implemented into your business or into your life. So that's that's what we're doing down here. Uh, we're halfway through day one, a little bit over that. I got two more days. I'm so excited to be here. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_02

Well, halfway through day one, what was the topic this morning? What were you guys going over?

SPEAKER_01

Hey, we we were talking about the uh the whole sales wheel, which talks about target, marketing, leads, lead gener or uh lead management, sales, scaling, all of that. We were talking about that, but then we focus more on targets. And what we mean by targets is is what are your business targets, right? Revenue, what does that look like? Personal, professional, financial goals. What does that look like? Because without a target, Robert, you don't know where you're going, right? No doubt about it. Yeah, and and you know, you aim for the bullseye, right? You you put your target on the middle and and you aim for that bullseye and you shoot for it.

SPEAKER_02

Remind everybody, we've talked a little bit about this before. What's what's different about a 10x target, Chris, compared to a normal, regular, average target, brother?

SPEAKER_01

I tell you what, you know what? 10X is talking about taking massive action, right? Not just average action or no action or retreat. It's massive action. It's it's like, okay, we're gonna we're gonna set our business goal to make a million dollars this year. Well, why not make it 10 million, right? Because it's gonna take the same amount of effort to make get a million as this 10 million, you might as well shoot for 10, right? And so that's the plan. And if and guess what? You set the target so high, you know you're gonna miss it, but guess what? You're gonna be so much further along than where you were if you just like, oh, I'm just gonna go for a million, right? And so that's what a 10x is. It's 10x in everything, literally, 10x in everything that you do in your life to take those massive actions, in personal and in professional. You know, this isn't just about business, it's about mindset, it's about changing that mindset that everyone has infinite potential and possibilities in their life. Literally, I was just at lunch with Grant Cardone today, and he was talking about that. Anyone can make$45 million. Anyone, there's someone making$45 million this year, there's someone making$45 million this month. Hell, there's someone making$45 million right now. Right now, making a$45 million deal, right? And that's the thing. And and one thing that he did bring up that is it's really really neat that he brought this up because everyone's like, Well, I gotta go make more money, I gotta make more money. Well, guess what? No one makes money but the government. They print it out on mass scale. We go get the money. So that's that mindset. We gotta go get the money. Who's got my money? And that's the mindset that we're trying to help everyone here and through our podcast understand that, right? We're not making money, the government does. We're out to get it.

SPEAKER_02

No doubt about it. I love how Grant says that all the time, says, hey, you're just out collecting it. You're not making it, you're just out collecting it, finding ways to collect it. That's right.

SPEAKER_01

We'll let the government make it, right? Yeah. So that's really been the focus this morning, Robert, is the targets and understanding how to set those targets. And then the key thing is once you set those targets, is monitoring those with KPIs, key performance indicators, setting up what those look like. Because if you don't monitor them, if you don't track the data, you won't know if you're gonna hit your target or not, right? I mean, if you set a target, you gotta figure out how you're gonna get to that target and you gotta track that you're on scale to get to there. And as as uh Grant tells us, it's it's the millionaire math, right? Want to make a million bucks, divide that by 12. It's how much you got to make in each month. Divide that by 52 weeks, how much you gotta make each week, divide it by the hours of work week you have. Tells you how much you need to make per hour, right? Might break that elephant down one bite at a time, and you will get there to that million dollars or whatever your target is.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. So, one of the great things about the summit, you know, we go to a lot of different conferences, a lot of different workshops, a lot of different trainings throughout the year for 10x. But one thing that's unique about the summit, the business summit in particular, is all the heavy hitters are speaking at the business summit. Everybody from the 10x world from Grant on down comes and talks at the summit. So tell us a little bit about some of the speakers that are going to be there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so you are right. You know, uh Jared Glant, president of uh CTDI, he was up talking this morning uh quite a bit, but he you know brought Grant up right off the bat. Grant was talking about uh, you know, his story a little bit, how he got to where he is, and how his goal truly is. I mean, everyone thinks he's arrogant, everything's you know, he's kind of uh a little bit of a pompous, but he's not. His true goal is to get and help as many people as he can, right? He's got all the money he needs. He's just out to help everyone else get the amount of money that they need on that. And uh he's also got Brandon Dawson and Natalie Dawson, they're gonna be here tomorrow. Uh Todd, Todd's over here, Todd's in charge of sales and marketing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Todd's dropping again. Yeah. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_01

Todd's dropping. Yeah, Todd. Todd will be up talking too. Uh, brother Dave Robards will be up talking. Uh, the sliver of a man that he is now, he's lost about 80 pounds. Uh looking great. Yeah, he's got 12 years under his belt here with Grant Cardone. Uh oh, Sherry, Sherry, the uh COO of Grant Cardone uh Enterprises will be here talking as well. I've already chatted with her. Uh Jody Seiko, uh, she's in charge of the coaching uh program here. I mean, there's so many things, and they just rolled out a new this is this is new, Robert. You don't even know about it, right? It's the it's the fractional revenue coaching that they have now programmed. So where businesses literally they have it where two times every day throughout the week, different segments of your business that you can talk about AI, marketing, scaling, CRMs that you pay, and they will have staffed people to be able to walk you through every day of the week on those different topics. It's phenomenal. It's phenomenal. And I'm excited as a coach, as you should be, that we're gonna be able to bring this to our clients as well.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I love it. Speaking of the coaching, Grant always calls the coaching program his his legacy project, right? It's the way he can reach all 8 billion people across the globe that he might not be able to reach personally, right? So we are both, we're both certified 10x coaches. But hey, just last night, as we're recording this, you received a pretty cool email after you did some extensive training over the last few months to get up to the next level, my man. I'm proud of you. I think it's awesome. I knew you were gonna get it, but tell me a little bit about what you received last night.

SPEAKER_01

Man, Robert, I appreciate that. I'm still, I still, it still doesn't feel real. But yeah, just to go back on that, but you and I are certified coaches, which means we've gone through 66 days of training content, right? And we've gone through a two-day certification course down in Miami so we can be certified coaches. And then the next and the highest level they have is a performance coach. A performance coach is actually hired by Grant Cardone as a 1099 coaching contract with him, again, to reach the 8 billion people in this planet so that he can try to reach them with his products, services, knowledge to help everyone he can. And it was, it was it was a 17-week process, which was a deep dive into every corner of the Cardone training that's out there, right? And then we had to submit a resume, video resume, uh sessions of our our our uh coaching sessions we've done submitted, and a formal written resume. As of and I had to go by a through a board of directors and then go through Jody and Jared Glant, the president, and get approved from there. And I received the email last night that the job, the position as performance coach was offered to me, and I accepted it. So I'm excited that we're gonna be able to bring level six, the highest level training that Grant Cardone has in coaching to all of our clients in Mid-Illinois and around, because we can coach anybody in the world, and that's what's exciting about it, because we can coach just like you're in Orlando, or if you're in Illinois right now, or if you're in Alaska and I'm in Fort Lauderdale, where we can do this and help people deliver the content that Grant has made accessible to us to get out to our clients, and that's what's so exciting. I'm just I'm just pumped. I'm pumped now. I want I want everyone to know that I'm not leaving big dog construction. Design and build is still there, right? Yeah, still doing the coaching, still doing the big dog media productions. None of that's changing. This is just adding additional uh clientele to our coaching base that we can reach out and help. So that's that's what this is, and and I'm just excited to be part of it. And let's flip the script on you, Robert. There we go. You you you are asked to be in the program starting in June to go through the same program I went through so that you have the opportunity to apply for the same position.

SPEAKER_02

No doubt about it. I'm so about it, Chris. Yeah, absolutely. I am excited to get started on that in June. Follow in my brother's footsteps here so we can both bring that performance coach style to Illinois, to everywhere, to Springfield, to mid-Illinois, and like you said, we can have clients across the globe. So I am super excited to get that top level training that uh GC offers through that 10X coaching program. So, well, Chris, I'm gonna let you get back to your conference here in just a second. But any last minute thoughts on uh you want to give out to the audience here on what's going on there?

SPEAKER_01

I do, I do. So, you know, like I said in the beginning, I'm here elevating my experience and knowledge, and I'm also adding to my designing and building capabilities, right? And so that's how both our podcasts kind of collaborate on this, where um, and it's not just elevating your business, it's elevating your personal life as well in your podcast. Same in mind, not just design and building homes and bathrooms and all that. It's design and building your life, right? And then it's a mindset thing, mindset shift. If you want to know more about it and what this 10x mindset can do, check out the show notes, right? It's gonna be in there. Robert talks about it all the time, I talk about it, and we're here to help you, right? We'll give out a free consultation call about how we can help on that, no different than we do in the construction, right? We'll give you a free consultation to come out and talk about your home needs, right? So that's the only last things I've got. Just enjoying it, excited to just take it to the next level.

SPEAKER_02

Love it, love it. Well, Chris, appreciate you taking some time out of the conference to come out and talk. I'm excited for this dual drop podcast that we got going on. I'm excited about the future of both our podcast and our coaching business, ready to 10x this whole thing, right, my brother?

SPEAKER_01

That's right, right. I'm so excited. I'm so excited about this for both of us.

SPEAKER_02

No doubt about it. Well, Chris, appreciate it, man.

SPEAKER_01

All right, thanks, Robert. I'll give you a half 10X.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, there you go. Well, we're gonna let Chris get back to elevating Springsfield and Mid-Illinois while he's down in Fort Lauderdale. But for the rest of y'all, we'll be right back. And we are back for a closeout for today. I wanted to give you a little bit more of a taste of what that three-day 10x business summit is all about. It is a three-day workshop uh focused on 10x methods and mindsets. I want to go through a little bit about what we learn at this conference, and we can actually bring some of this to Springfield, and we're going to be doing that soon. We're going to have a Springfield Business Summit. So let's touch on a few things that Grant likes to touch on at the business summit. So let's first go into stats of small businesses. There are 31.5 million small to mid-size businesses in America, but unfortunately, two out of three fail within the first five years. Of those 31.5 million small to mid-size businesses in America, 25 million of them only have one employee. Those are those solopreneurs. 5.3 million of them have two to eleven employees, and 600,000 of them have 12 or more employees. Now, top three reasons that most of them fail within the first five years. Number one, lack of product and service demand. Simply, people do not want their product or service. Number two, can't find great people. That is a huge issue right now. People trying to find great people for their business. Or number three, they can't get financing. They don't have enough capital to continue and part of that too. Grant always talks about businesses fail because they can't sell their product quick enough and in quantities large enough to be able to sustain themselves. So that's the landscape we're looking at. Now, Grant always says the number one problem in your business is people. The number one problem for people is money, and the number one cause of disengagement of your employees is due to money. So let's go through some of Grant's money principles. He's got 12 of them that we talk about in the business summit. Number one, never spend money until it is banked. Number two, invest 40% of your total gross income and live off the rest. The idea is not improve your living standards, but improve your assets. Number three, if you can't write it off, don't buy it. Number four, if you can't buy two of them with cash, don't do it. Number five, use the one to five rating system for using money. So how important is it to you? Number six, rent and lease. Don't own cars, homes, and offices. Number seven, stabilize first flow before starting a second flow. Grant talks about this a lot. He talks about how people are too quick to try to move into that second flow before that first flow is fully stabilized. Number eight, second flow, that's your second income flow, should be connected to your first flow and not require extra time. So it should be something that is connected and runs parallel to that without extra time. Number nine, the one day, one hour rule. Invest in yourself, even if it violates rule number four, which is if you can't buy two of them with cash, don't buy any at all. So one day, one hour. So that's if you're gonna spend one day working for somebody else, spend one hour actually investing in you. Number ten, never lose money, never gamble, invest in sure things only. Number eleven, target passive income to equal earned income. That one's gonna take a little bit, but you'll get there. Number twelve, use good debt to scale yourself, your department, and your business. Now that last one some people can shy away from sometimes, but Grant always says debt is vital to wealth creation. It's virtually impossible to create wealth and freedom without using some debt. So some of the benefits of good debt, and most of what he's talking about is real estate. Number one, fully tax deductible. Number two, use to improve you. This could be training. Number three, use to improve your people. Again, more training. Number four, use to expand marketing campaigns. Drive your product, your service, your brand deeper. Number five, use to increase inventories. Number six, that's the fastest way to scale and expand. Number seven, these are the benefits of good debt, creates massive levels of income. Number eight, creates net worth. Number nine, allows for acquisition of other businesses. And number ten, buys second flows of income. So we talk a lot about targets. What are your targets right now? Unfortunately, people typically set their targets too low. Now we go through an exercise in the business summit talking about how are you going to add ten million dollars to your top line? The reason people won't get there is because they have wrong targets, they have the wrong staff, they have wrong expectations, wrong products, wrong offers, and wrong think. But all of that can be fixed. We can do a little millionaire math. So how many ways are there to$10 million? Hey, you can get one person to give you$10 million, you can get 10 people to give you 1 million, you get 100 people to give you 100,000, or you could go all the way down to 1 million people giving you 83 cents per month. There's a lot of ways to get there, but you gotta have the right targets, the right staff, the right expectations, the right products, the right offers, and the right think in order to get there. And we talk a lot about the 10X sales wheel. We start with the idea or the target, move on to getting attention. That attention brings leads. Then you got to go into your lead management, then sales, then managing the money, then scaling. We're gonna get more onto that in a future episode. So let's end with these last couple of things. GC talks about his biggest mistakes they have made in business. He's got eight of them here. Number one, stayed small for too long. Number two, didn't understand their brand. Do you understand your brand? Number three, ignored social media for too long. Number four, did not invest to learn social and marketing. Number five, operated with the wrong technology. Number six, hired the wrong people. Number seven, did not invest all their money in promotion and branding. And number eight, should have bought connections and collaborated much, much earlier. Now the reasons you might not be operating at 10x right now in your business, hey, maybe you got a larger business and executives and leadership are settling now. Or maybe got the wrong targets, or maybe you've made some hiring mistakes, or maybe your staff's disengaged right now, or maybe sales is not a priority, and there's no commitment to training and no future commitment, no forward thinking. Those are things that you can change. Your business can change to be able to get to those 10x levels that you're operating at 10x levels and therefore going for 10x targets, taking 10x massive action in order to get there. Because, hey, all commitments, they just require a couple of things. All targets can be achieved with the right amount of time and money, y'all. So, hey, we're gonna have a 10x business summit in Springfield soon. But hey, if you want to learn some more about this, give us a shout.
